A Bomb blast occurred in the Syrian Cities (Homs and Damascus), have left at least 140 people dead. At least 4 blasts struck the southern of Damascus ( the countryside of Sayyida Zainab), killing at least 80 people. Earlier in Homs, 57 people, mainly civilians (a person who is not in an armed service or police force), were killed in a double car bombing. Coraline

21. Write a review to recommend the book to others

I have finished the book Coraline except I wanted to do more posts on the book since I love it! This post, I am going to write a review to recommend this book to others. I am sorry if it is a short post.

Dear All,

I recommend this book to all of you because it has lots of adventure, a little bit of horror and some suspense. I recommend "Coraline" to age 8 till maybe 13/14 years old. The moral of the story is that you should be grateful for what you have and never take it for granted. Life can never be perfect. There will always be ups and downs. So, I really do recommend this book because it is a fun, interesting, mysterious book. It also teaches you a lesson.

Thank You!

21. Write a letter to a character in your Book

Dear Coraline,

My name is Simone MItra and I am 11 years old. I have read the book Coraline by Neil Gaiman. You are such a courageous, adventorous girl. You have gone through such an adventure. I love your personality. I think you are going to grow up to be a great journalist or a detective. I have a question for you Coraline. Do you like your house now where you had your great, spooky adventure the other one? I think you did the right thing of not listening to that evil, vicious beldam. If I were you i wouldnt be as brave as you. How did you survive? Its amazing! I've read your book and you are an inspirational character. I've always wonder how you defeated her?

Thank you and please reply ASAP,

Coraline Summary

Author: Neil Gaiman

I love the book Coraline it is one of my favorite books. It has mystery and loads of suspense. Now, I am going to write a summary or you. Thank You to Madhavi who gave me the idea of doing a summary!

A young, girl named Coraline Jones moves into an apartment, in an old house,  with her parents.  Her neighbors include 2 elderly, retired actresses and a strange man, who lives upstairs, and trains mice for a circus act. Despite this weirdness, Coraline is very bored. Her parents work a lot and intend to ignore Coraline.

One day, Coraline discovers a door with a brick wall behind it. But, when she opens the door in the night, there is a hallway leading to somewhere. When Coraline goes through that door, she ends up in an entirely different world but everything looks the same as he house. In that world, Coraline has an other mother (the beldam), an other father and other neighbors. And in that world, cats can talk.

Coraline decides that the other world is weird (I agree too) because the beldam asked her to were buttons and sow them on her eyes and so she heads back to her real home.  But when she arrives home, her parents are missing. The Beldam has kidnapped them and Coraline has to go back to that creepy world to bring them back. Spoiler Alert: she succeeds. She gets her parents back and in the meantime, she saved the souls of the 3 kidnapped children in the cellar of the beldam's house. Coraline then returns home.

But wait, it's not quite over. It turns out that the beldam followed Coraline to her home. Coraline plays the last trick by trapping the beldam's hand and she succeeds. After that, she was exited to start her new school and have great opportunities to make new friend.

Thank You and please leave a comment!

Characters in the Book Coraline

Characters in the Book Coraline

Author: Neil Gaiman
30. Design your own activity

Coraline Jones

Coraline Jones is a classic heroine. She's an 11 year old girl who's tougher than she seems.  She is the daughter of Mr. Jones and Mrs. Jones.

Mr. Jones

Coraline's dad [Charlie Jones] is one of those dad's who are kind of boring and doesn't have really any emotion. He tries his very best to entertain his daughter [and to cook her dinner] but because he works from home, he doesn't have that much time to play with Coraline.

Mrs. Jones

Coraline's mother [Mel Jones] is a distracted, busy woman that has no time to spend with her daughter. She is a mom who doesn't know how to cook.

The Other Mother

The Other Mother, also known as the beldam [which means witch], is the book's super, creepy villain.  From the very beginning, it is clear to Coraline that there something very off about this woman. She looked like Coraline's mother only, her skin was white as paper, she was taller and thiner, she had eyes that were made out of buttons and her fingers were way too long.

The Other Father

Coraline's other father isn't scary he's just pathetic. He looks like he's under control of the beldam. He has button eyes too.

April Spink and Miriam Forcible

April Spink and Miriam Forcible are Coraline's Neighbour. They live together, with there 3 dogs, and the both enjoy telling fortunes. More importantly, they're both actresses who love to talk about there days in the theatre.

The Other Miss Spink and Miss Forcible

The Other Miss Spink and Other Miss Forcible were much thiner, they were pale, they were  pretty and they both had black button eyes.

Coraline Jones

Coraline Jones is an 11 year old girl with a huge personality. Coraline is a tomboyish, adventurous, clever,  curious and creative girl for her age. She is a very quick thinker and comes up with great ideas. She is often annoyed by rain, grown-ups, people pronouncing her name wrong [they confuse it with Caroline] and people not taking her seriously because of her young age.

Coraline is a rather skinny girl. She has a brown hair. She has a round, wide childish face. Coraline has brown eyes, a pointy nose and thin, brown eyebrows.

Coraline lives in a house with her parents Mel Jones [mother] and Charlie Jones [father]. Coraline has no siblings she is the only child.
